Congressman Gil Cisneros adds, “Josh brought common sense and bipartisanship to Sacramento during his time in the State Senate”

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Continuing to amass wide-ranging support for his 2020 rematch campaign to represent California’s 29th State Senate District, today U.S. Army veteran, businessman and former State Senator Josh Newman rolled out an endorsement from United States Congressman, Gil Cisneros. The Congressman from CA-39 joins Orange County Congressmembers Harley Rouda and Lou Correa, who previously announced they were supporting Newman’s campaign.

Today’s announcement comes on the heels of news that more than 90% of SD-29’s current roster of California Democratic Party delegates who will be casting ballots at the district pre-endorsement caucus later this year are endorsing Newman’s bid. This move virtually guarantees that the former Senator will earn the party’s highly coveted official stamp of approval.

In making public his endorsement of former Senator Josh Newman, Congressman Cisneros released the following statement:

“As a veteran myself, I’m proud to support my fellow veteran Josh Newman in his campaign for State Senate. Josh has always been a champion for veterans, founding ArmedForce2Workforce to help other vets find good-paying jobs upon returning home following their own military service. Josh brought common sense and bipartisanship to Sacramento during his time in the State Senate – prioritizing service, accountability, and community. I know that in the State Senate he will be just the partner we need to bring much-needed resources to the communities that we both represent. I’m proud to endorse my friend Josh Newman for State Senate.”
